How to Get to Tha Muang
Tha Muang (Kanchanaburi province) is normally reached by road from Bangkok after flying into one of Bangkok's airports. Rail services go to Kanchanaburi town (on the historic line) and buses/minivans provide regular connections; local transport is needed to reach Tha Muang itself.
Don Mueang (DMK) / Suvarnabhumi (BKK) + onward to Kanchanaburi: Tha Muang (Kanchanaburi province) has no commercial airport; travelers usually fly to Bangkok (DMK or BKK) then continue by road. From Bangkok the drive to Tha Muang is about 2-3 hours by car or shuttle depending on traffic.
U-Tapao / smaller regional airports: Some travelers use nearby regional airports combined with road transfers, but Bangkok remains the main air gateway to Kanchanaburi and Tha Muang.
Train: There are rail services from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi town (the Thon Buri-Nam Tok line) but not all trains stop close to Tha Muang district; check the State Railway of Thailand timetable for stops. From Kanchanaburi town you can take local transport to Tha Muang.
