How to Get to San Pa Tong
San Pa Tong is a district south of Chiang Mai city. Fly into Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX) or arrive by train/bus to Chiang Mai and then take a taxi, Grab or local bus/minivan for the short onward trip to San Pa Tong.
Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX): CNX is the nearest airport for San Pa Tong. From CNX take a taxi or Grab to San Pa Tong (about 20-40 minutes depending on traffic). Domestic flights to CNX arrive from Bangkok and other Thai cities.
Alternate routes: If arriving into Bangkok, take a domestic flight to Chiang Mai (about 1h15) then continue by taxi/Grab or regional bus to San Pa Tong.
Train: Chiang Mai is the northern terminus of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT). Trains from Bangkok arrive at Chiang Mai station; San Pa Tong does not have a major intercity station, so travel from Chiang Mai station to San Pa Tong is by local taxi or bus (approx. 20-40 min).
Bus / Minivan: Local buses and minivans run from Chiang Mai Bus Terminal (Arcade) to districts and towns around Chiang Mai, including San Pa Tong; travel time is typically under an hour and fares are inexpensive (tens of baht).
How to Get Around San Pa Tong #
San Pa Tong is a district town with short distances best covered on foot, by motorbike taxi or local songthaew. Shared vans and buses connect the district centre to Chiang Mai city and nearby villages for longer journeys. Typical short rides cost a few dozen baht.
