How to Get to Ban Aen
Ban Aen (Chiang Mai province) is served by Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX) and by the provincial rail/bus network. For most visitors the airport plus local songthaew or taxi is the quickest way into local communities.
Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX): The main airport serving Chiang Mai province. CNX is a short drive from Chiang Mai city; from there take the airport shuttle, taxi or songthaew to reach Ban Aen (which is in the greater Chiang Mai area). Airport shuttle buses cost about 30 THB and take 15-25 minutes to city locations; taxis cost ~150-300 THB depending on destination and time of day.
(No other closer international airports): For international arrivals most travellers use CNX; Bangkok airports are alternatives if connecting to local flights or buses.
Train: Chiang Mai Railway Station is the northern terminus of Thailand’s rail network with regular services from Bangkok. From Chiang Mai station you can connect locally by songthaew or taxi to reach Ban Aen - last‑mile travel typically takes under 30 minutes by road.
Bus / Songthaew / Local bus: Local songthaews (red trucks) and local buses are the common way to get around Chiang Mai province. Standard city songthaew fares start at about 20-30 THB on shared routes; private hires cost more.
How to Get Around Ban Aen #
Ban Aen is a small village area and most short trips are on foot or by motorbike. In the Chiang Mai region you’ll also find local songthaews (shared pickup trucks) and motorbike taxis for short fares. For travel into Chiang Mai city or other larger towns, use scheduled buses or hire a private transfer; services are inexpensive but variable in frequency outside peak routes.
