How to Get to Rūdiškės
Rūdiškės is most easily accessed via Vilnius International Airport (VNO) and Vilnius city's bus station. From Vilnius city, frequent regional buses connect to surrounding settlements; trains are less useful for very local journeys.
Vilnius International Airport (VNO): The main airport for the area, about 15-20 km from Vilnius city centre. Buses (routes 1 and 2 and several express/minibus services) link the airport to the city centre in about 15-20 minutes; expect fares around €1-€2 for a standard single ticket. Taxis from the airport to central Vilnius take 15-25 minutes and cost roughly €10-€15.
Kaunas Airport (KUN) - secondary option: Kaunas is further away (about 100 km) but used by some low-cost carriers. From Kaunas you can take a shuttle or bus to Vilnius (travel time ~1-1.5 hours, fares commonly €6-€12) and then local buses or regional connections to reach surrounding villages like Rūdiškės.
Train: Lithuania’s rail network is limited around Vilnius; Vilnius railway station (Vilniaus geležinkelio stotis) serves regional trains mainly to Kaunas, Šiauliai and border towns. Trains are useful for longer regional hops but local bus services are usually more relevant for reaching small communities.
Bus/Regional coach: Vilnius’s central bus station (Stotis) runs frequent regional buses to towns and villages across Vilnius County. Rūdiškės is served by regional bus routes from Vilnius (journey ~25-45 minutes depending on route). Fares are low - typically €1.50-€4 for short regional trips - and tickets are bought on the bus or at the station.
