High / low are average daily temperatures (°C). “Feels” reflects how hot or cold it feels, allowing for humidity.
Doha & the Eastern Coast (The Corniche, The Pearl, Katara)
Stifling heat grips Doha and the eastern coast, with regular highs of 40°C or more and high overnight temperatures near 30°C; sweat and humidity are constant companions. Outdoor attractions are largely deserted by day - locals favor malls, indoor souks and air-conditioned cultural venues - and the Gulf is hot to the touch. Plan activities for pre-dawn or after 9pm, stay hydrated, and expect reduced ferry or dhow services on days with dust or strong shamal winds.
Northern Coast & Al Khor (Al Khor, Ras Rakan, Al Thakhira)
Summer takes hold with long, hot days: highs often hit the high 30s to low 40s and marine humidity climbs in calm spells, making the coast feel heavy and slow. Shamal-driven sandstorms are possible and can reduce visibility across the flats and coastal roads, occasionally forcing cancellations of small-boat tours. For birders and anglers, early mornings are mandatory, and evening beachfront dining is far more pleasant than daytime pursuits.
Western Coast & Dukhan Dunes (Dukhan, Ras Abrouq/Buq, Zekreet)
In summer the western coast is extremely hot with temperatures often above 40°C and nights that stay well into the high 20s. Dry heat and frequent sand squalls under shamal conditions make daytime exploration hazardous without shade; many visitors defer dune drives until autumn. Water activities on the western shore are rare and the area feels remoter - bring plenty of water and rely on guides with local knowledge.
Southern Coast, Mesaieed & Khor Al Adaid (Al Wakrah, Mesaieed, Sealine)
In high summer the southern coast suffers the same extreme heat as the rest of Qatar: daytime temperatures frequently exceed 40°C and the combination of heat and humidity makes outdoor activity unpleasant. Sea breezes are sometimes helpful but shamal-driven sandstorms can make the Inland Sea’s sand ridges unstable and reduce visibility. Travelers should only undertake guided excursions and avoid unsheltered daytime activity.
Central Interior & Sand Dunes (Sealine-Inland Desert, central plateau)
Midsummer is extreme in the central desert: daytime temperatures often exceed 45°C and nights can remain uncomfortably warm, making camping hazardous without professional support. The sand radiates heat and shamal storms can produce blinding dust; most travellers avoid the interior in these months. If travel is unavoidable, arrange guided night-time desert experiences and ensure vehicles are fully equipped with spares and sufficient water.
