Doha & the Eastern Coast (The Corniche, The Pearl, Katara)
Late winter afternoons here are mild and breezy, with daytime temperatures often nudging the low-to-mid 20s and nights still cool. Birdwatchers find nearby mangroves at Al Thakira busy with winter migrants, and Doha’s outdoor cafés fill up as residents enjoy the weather; a thin jumper is handy for coastal evenings. Traffic to weekend attractions like Katara Cultural Village can increase, but the pleasant air makes museum visits and harbour dhow trips especially enjoyable.
Northern Coast & Al Khor (Al Khor, Ras Rakan, Al Thakhira)
Late-winter in the north feels crisp and green: daytime temperatures typically climb into the low 20s and the mudflats brim with wintering shorebirds near Al Thakhira. Coastal breezes keep humidity low and the water is chilly but inviting for early birds on fishing boats and dhow excursions. Towns like Al Khor are quieter midweek but busy at weekends; bring binoculars and a windbreaker for open-boat trips.
Western Coast & Dukhan Dunes (Dukhan, Ras Abrouq/Buq, Zekreet)
Late winter feels cool and windy on the western littoral, with daytime temperatures in the low 20s and brisk sea breezes that clear the air - good for photography at the Mushroom Rock near Zekreet. Offshore visibility for any coastal boat trips is often excellent; mornings can be frosty in exposed hollows, so layers are useful. Wildlife is less concentrated than in the north, but desert blooms after rain can add unexpected color to the dunes.
Southern Coast, Mesaieed & Khor Al Adaid (Al Wakrah, Mesaieed, Sealine)
Late winter brings pleasant beach days and mild winds that suit dune-to-water excursions; temperatures usually reach the low 20s by afternoon. Birdlife in the tidal lagoons increases, and the Sealine area sees more guided desert safaris operating with comfortable nights for camping. A light sweater is still useful at dawn and dusk, but daytime activities across Al Wakrah and Sealine are at their peak.
Central Interior & Sand Dunes (Sealine-Inland Desert, central plateau)
Late winter provides some of the best desert conditions - cool nights and warm, sunny days in the low-to-mid 20s - and occasional short rains can green the dunes briefly. This is prime season for overnight desert camps, camel farms near the Sealine, and photography at dawn when limestone shadows are long. Pack layers for the large diurnal swings and book with experienced guides for remote routes.
