How to Get to Puerto Cortez

Puerto Cortés is a major Honduran port on the Caribbean coast. International visitors generally fly into San Pedro Sula (SAP) then continue by road; there is no passenger rail for the route and buses, shuttles and taxis are common for the final leg.

By Air

Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport (SAP): San Pedro Sula’s SAP is the main international airport serving northern Honduras; Puerto Cortés (Puerto Cortez) is reached by road from San Pedro Sula.

Golosón International Airport (LCE): La Ceiba (LCE) is another regional airport on the north coast; depending on schedules it can be an alternative for coastal travel in northern Honduras.

By Train & Bus

Train: Honduras does not have a national passenger rail service for intercity travel.

Bus: Intercity buses and private coach companies operate frequent services between San Pedro Sula and Puerto Cortés; local buses and taxis handle movements inside the port city.

How to Get Around Puerto Cortez #

Puerto Cortés is a port town where the central area is walkable for short trips; taxis and local buses (rutas) handle most local travel. For intercity trips, regular buses connect to major Honduran cities. If you plan to explore coastal areas, check boat schedules and arrange transfers through your accommodation, especially for fishing or island trips.
