Psar Nat Market

Psar Nat literally means the “meeting market”, though it is often called the Central Market, being both the physical and social heart of Battambang.

Like most Cambodian markets, it is more a place for locals to buy groceries than a tourist destination, but anyone who hasn’t experienced a local market will enjoy the lively atmosphere, especially in the cooler morning hours when most people shop. Alongside household goods and a wide range of foodstuffs, the market has a number of gem and jewellery shops selling stones from Cambodia and abroad, though local emeralds and rubies have grown harder to find in recent years.
