How to Get to Placencia
Placencia is a beach village on a slender peninsula in southern Belize. You can reach it by short domestic flight into Placencia (PLJ) from Belize City or by road buses/shuttles down the Southern Highway from Belize City and Dangriga.
Philip S. W. Goldson International (BZE): Belize’s main international airport near Belize City. Domestic carriers (Tropic Air and Maya Island Air) run regular flights from BZE to Placencia’s small airstrip (PLJ); the flight is about 20-25 minutes.
Placencia Airport (PLJ): A small local airport on the peninsula served by Tropic Air and Maya Island Air. Flights from Belize City are short (≈20-25 min); check each carrier for current fares (commonly in the ~US$80-120 one-way range).
Train: Belize has no passenger rail network.
Bus: Regular public buses and express coaches run from Belize City or Dangriga to Placencia (via the Southern Highway). The road journey from Belize City to Placencia takes about 3-3.5 hours by bus or car; smaller local buses and shuttle services are available from Dangriga for the final leg.
