How to Get to San Pedro
San Pedro (Toledo District) is best reached via Punta Gorda (PND) for domestic flights or by a long overland bus/shuttle from Belize City (BZE). Domestic flights are the fastest way into Toledo; local minibuses and taxis serve the final legs.
Punta Gorda Airport (PND): Punta Gorda (PND) is the main domestic airport for southern Belize (Toledo District). Domestic carriers such as Tropic Air land here from Belize City; flights from Belize City take about 30-40 minutes. From Punta Gorda town, San Pedro (Toledo) villages are a short taxi or bus ride away.
Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE): BZE near Belize City is the main international gateway. From BZE you can take a domestic flight to Punta Gorda (PND) or travel overland by bus/minibus - the flight is fastest (around 45 minutes to PND), while the bus journey to Punta Gorda takes many hours and requires transfers.
Bus / Coach: There is no national passenger rail in Belize. Overland buses and private shuttles operate between Belize City, Belmopan and Punta Gorda; travel times are long (often 5-8+ hours from Belize City to Punta Gorda depending on stops) and fares vary by operator. From Punta Gorda town you can catch local buses or taxis to nearby villages (short trips).
Local minibus / taxi: Within Toledo District local minibuses and shared taxis connect settlements. These are the practical way to travel short distances from Punta Gorda to surrounding villages; schedules are informal, so ask locally for departure times and fares.
