Mae Thalop (Chiang Mai province) is reached overland from Chiang Mai city. The nearest major airport and rail terminus is Chiang Mai (CNX/Chiang Mai Railway Station); follow by minivan, bus or taxi for the last mile.
Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX): Chiang Mai airport is the main air gateway for northern Thailand. From CNX to Mae Thalop you will typically continue by road-taxis take about 1-2 hours or longer depending on the exact location in Chiang Mai province; fares vary (expect several hundred THB). Domestic flights are not relevant for short interprovincial hops inside Chiang Mai.
