How to Get to Ishøj
Ishøj is a southwestern Copenhagen suburb with fast S-train connections to central Copenhagen and good local bus service. For most visitors, the train from Copenhagen Airport or København H is the simplest way to arrive.
Copenhagen Airport (CPH): The main international gateway is Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup (CPH). From CPH take the regional train or metro to København H (Central Station) and transfer to the S-train toward Køge/Ishøj - total travel time to Ishøj is typically about 20-35 minutes. Approximate fare: 36-90 DKK one-way depending on zones and ticket type.
Local aerodromes: Smaller nearby airfields have no regular international passenger services; they are not practical arrival points for most visitors to Ishøj.
Train (S-train & Regional): Ishøj Station is on Copenhagen’s S-train network (Coastal/Køge radial) with frequent services from København H; the trip takes roughly 15-25 minutes from central Copenhagen. Buy a zonal ticket or use Rejsekort.
Bus: Local Movia buses connect Ishøj with neighbouring suburbs and parts of the greater Copenhagen area; buses are useful for short hops and to access areas not directly served by the S-train.
How to Get Around Ishøj #
Ishøj is compact and easy to get around on foot or by bicycle for local trips. Ishøj Station is served by Copenhagen’s S-train network, providing a relatively quick link into Copenhagen; local buses also cover neighbourhood routes. S-train trips into Copenhagen are sold by zone and typically cost a few dozen Danish kroner; local bus fares are cheaper for short journeys. Cycling is a very practical option for exploring the coastal area.
