How to Get to Ishøj#
Ishøj is a southwestern Copenhagen suburb with fast S-train connections to central Copenhagen and good local bus service. For most visitors, the train from Copenhagen Airport or København H is the simplest way to arrive.
Copenhagen Airport (CPH): The main international gateway is Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup (CPH). From CPH take the regional train or metro to København H (Central Station) and transfer to the S-train toward Køge/Ishøj - total travel time to Ishøj is typically about 20-35 minutes. Approximate fare: 36-90 DKK one-way depending on zones and ticket type.
Local aerodromes: Smaller nearby airfields have no regular international passenger services; they are not practical arrival points for most visitors to Ishøj.
Train (S-train & Regional): Ishøj Station is on Copenhagen’s S-train network (Coastal/Køge radial) with frequent services from København H; the trip takes roughly 15-25 minutes from central Copenhagen. Buy a zonal ticket or use Rejsekort.
Bus: Local Movia buses connect Ishøj with neighbouring suburbs and parts of the greater Copenhagen area; buses are useful for short hops and to access areas not directly served by the S-train.
How to Get Around Ishøj#
The S-train is the most efficient way to get to and from Ishøj - fast, frequent and well integrated with Copenhagen’s transport system. Local buses, cycling and walking cover shorter local journeys.
- S-train (Ishøj Station) (36-90 DKK) - Ishøj is served by frequent S-trains from København H; the ride from central Copenhagen takes about 15-25 minutes. The S-train is dependable and the best option for commuter travel to central Copenhagen.
- Regional/InterCity Trains (Depends on route (zone-based)) - Regional trains to Køge and beyond pass through the southern network; for some origin points a regional train plus a short S-train hop can be efficient. Check DSB for schedules and ticketing rules.
- Bus (Movia) (10-40 DKK) - Local buses serve residential areas and provide connections to nearby towns and shopping centres. Useful for last-mile journeys where the S-train does not stop.
- Taxi / Rideshare (DKK 250-500 (from CPH approx.)) - Taxis and rideshare services provide convenient door-to-door transport, useful for early or late arrivals and heavy luggage. Costs are considerably higher than public transport.
- Cycling - Greater Copenhagen is extremely cycle-friendly; many locals use bikes for daily trips. If you plan to explore along the coast or nearby parks, cycling is often faster than buses.
- Walking - Ishøj’s town centre and waterfront areas are compact and easily explored on foot. Walking is pleasant for short excursions and complements public-transport journeys.
Where to Stay in Ishøj#
Ishøj Strand / Town centre - $40-80/night

Comfortable, small hotels and modern apartments are the norm. Good for families and business visitors, with easy S-train connections into Copenhagen.
