High / low are average daily temperatures (°C). “Feels” reflects how hot or cold it feels, allowing for humidity.
Minsk & Central Lowlands
By mid-spring the Central Lowlands move into a soggy transition: daytime temperatures typically range from 5-12°C but the ground is often waterlogged after snowmelt. Rural tracks around Borisov and the riverbanks near Minsk can be muddy and poorly drained, making countryside cycling or light trekking messy; rubber boots are useful. Cherry and apple blossoms appear later in April, and the crowds are low - a good time to visit galleries, castles, and cafés without summer tourists.
Brest & Southwestern Belovezhskaya Pushcha
Spring arrives later here than in many west European locations: daytime temperatures generally climb from 0 to 10°C through March and April, but the ground stays saturated from snowmelt. Belovezhskaya Pushcha’s undergrowth wakes up and early migrants return, making birding around Brest and Kobryn particularly good in April and May; muddy forest tracks are the norm. Travellers should expect wet boots and bring waterproof outer layers and possibly a walking stick for slippery boardwalks in boggy areas.
Grodno & Neman River Region (Northwest)
As spring progresses, the banks of the Neman swell with snowmelt and low-lying meadows turn into broad wet ribbons; daytime temperatures typically range 3-12°C. Orchard blossoms near Lida and the first migratory waterbirds return to marshes around the river floodplain, making this an attractive time for birders. Roads can remain muddy, so plan low-impact walks in parks and bring waterproof footwear.
Vitebsk & Northern Lakes (Braslav, Narach areas)
As spring arrives the lake district becomes a soggy mosaic: daytime temperatures typically 3-12°C while melting snow keeps trails and low-lying areas muddy. The Braslav Lakes awaken with migratory waterfowl and marsh orchids in May; this is a prime birding period but not ideal for sunbathing. Bring waterproof hiking boots and insect repellent, and expect quieter hotels compared with the lake-side bustle of summer.
Gomel & Southeastern Polesie (Pripyat marshes)
Spring is notably late and soggy in the marshes: snowmelt leaves fields saturated while daytime temperatures usually range 3-10°C. The Pripyat’s tributaries swell and many tracks become impassable without high-clearance vehicles; guided boat trips start to look attractive as a way to access isolated meadows. Mosquitoes are not yet a problem, but ticks and muddy trails demand practical, protective clothing.
