High / low are average daily temperatures (°C). “Feels” reflects how hot or cold it feels, allowing for humidity.
Minsk & Central Lowlands
High summer brings the warmest weather the region sees: daily highs often sit between 22-28°C, and heatwaves to 30°C are not unknown. Thunderstorms are most frequent in late afternoons, occasionally heavy and accompanied by short, intense downpours that can flood small streets around suburbs; urban green spaces provide shade. This is peak domestic holiday time so Minsk is busier and countryside guesthouses fill fast - book ahead and carry insect repellent for lakeside evenings.
Brest & Southwestern Belovezhskaya Pushcha
Late summer is comfortable and slightly drier, with temperatures often 18-24°C and pleasant mornings for walks in the national park. Berry-picking becomes an informal local pastime and roadside stands near Brest sell fresh produce; water levels in small rivers may drop but marshy hollows stay damp. Mosquito pressure eases compared with July but repellent is still handy for dusk in the woods.
Grodno & Neman River Region (Northwest)
Late summer maintains warm days and cooling nights; highs usually fall to 18-23°C by August and the water is still comfortable for swimming. The Neman’s lower flow means islands and sandbanks appear - good for short hikes and picnics - but heavy rains upstream can change levels quickly. This is a popular period for weekenders from larger cities, so expect busier trails and book accommodation near Grodno in advance.
Vitebsk & Northern Lakes (Braslav, Narach areas)
Late summer remains pleasant with slightly lower humidity and daytime highs around 17-22°C, making it an excellent season for hiking and cycling between lakes. Water levels can fall a little after dry spells, exposing rocky shoals that are fun to explore, and berry-picking becomes a local pastime in surrounding woods. Expect fewer midges than in July and easier access to small guesthouses.
Gomel & Southeastern Polesie (Pripyat marshes)
Late summer keeps warm temperatures and high humidity with fewer extreme storms than midsummer; daytime highs commonly 18-23°C. Berry and mushroom foraging is popular in the surrounding woodlands, and the marshes’ birdlife is still active but less dramatic than in spring. This period is good for longer expeditions if you tolerate insects and stick to well-maintained routes or guided tours.
