Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO): Most international visitors arrive at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta. From Nairobi you can take a domestic transfer: fly or drive - Wilson Airport (see below) handles most domestic charters; a private/safari charter from NBO to airstrips near Samburu is common (charter prices vary widely). Bus: There is no direct long-distance rail service to Baragoi. Scheduled intercity buses and matatus run from Nairobi to towns such as Maralal; from Maralal or other local hubs you can catch local matatus or hire a 4x4 taxi to Baragoi. Journey times from Nairobi to Maralal are typically 6-8 hours by public bus; add another 1-3 hours to reach Baragoi depending on road conditions.
Local transport: Within Samburu County and the surrounding highlands travel is by 4x4, local minibuses (matatus) and motorcycle taxis (boda-boda) in populated areas. For visitors, arranging transfers through your lodge or a local tour operator is the most reliable way to get between airstrips, Maralal and Baragoi.
