Bali Bird Park is a commercial aviary and conservation-oriented park in Gianyar Regency on the island of Bali, Indonesia. The park displays a broad collection of Indonesian and international bird species across landscaped, walk-through aviaries and themed enclosures.

Exhibits include large free-flight aviaries, an Indonesian rainforest section and daily bird demonstrations in an open arena; the site hosts more than 1,000 individual birds from around 250 species. The park operates captive-breeding and conservation programs and offers close-up encounters, feeding sessions and educational displays.

The park opened in the 1990s and has since been promoted as both a tourist attraction and a regional breeding facility. Its collection emphasizes Indonesian endemics alongside parrots, hornbills and other popular species.

Bali Bird Park is located in Batubulan, Gianyar Regency, inland from Bali’s southern beach resorts and within about 20 km of Denpasar; it is commonly visited from Ubud, southern Bali resorts and the island’s main airport.

What to See#

• Main aviaries: Large walk-through and aviary exhibits housing many of the park’s species with landscaped paths, watering stations and shaded viewing areas.
• Breeding and conservation centre: A dedicated breeding and conservation centre that runs captive-breeding programs for Indonesian and regional species and supports on-site veterinary care.
• Free-flight show arena: An open arena used for daily free-flight demonstrations and bird shows featuring parrots, raptors and other trained species.

A firm favourite with families and nature lovers, Bali Bird Park makes a welcome change from temple-hopping. Its collection ranges across Indonesia and far beyond, with many birds housed in aviaries and others, such as demoiselle cranes, left to roam free. The park is divided into geographical regions that hint at the birds’ original habitats: the Africa and Americas sections near the entrance greet visitors with colourful cockatoos and macaws, while the largest enclosure, the walk-through Papua Aviary, is filled with thick tropical vegetation. Smaller aviaries house lories, though most of the birds fly freely.

Next door, the Rimba Reptile Park is home to a large collection of snakes, lizards and other reptiles, more than 48 species in all, including Californian king snakes, taipans, sungazers and the Madagascar tree boa. A single ticket admits visitors to both parks, making them an easy day out together.

Located in Gianyar regency, east of Denpasar. Reachable by taxi or arranged transport from Ubud or the Denpasar/Ngurah Rai International Airport; travel time depends on traffic (typically 30-60 minutes from Denpasar).
