Azraq is a small town east of Amman; most visitors arrive via Amman's airports (Queen Alia International, and smaller Marka/Amman Civil Airport) and continue by road. There is no passenger rail service, so overland travel from Amman or Zarqa by bus, shared taxi or private transfer is the normal approach.
Queen Alia International Airport (AMM): Queen Alia is the main international gateway for Jordan. Azraq is roughly 110-130 km east of AMM; expect a private taxi or transfer to take about 1.5-2 hours. Private transfers typically cost in the range of JD 35-60 one-way (approximate; confirm with operator). Car hire at AMM is also straightforward and drives take about the same time.
Amman Civil Airport / Marka (OMF): Marka handles some regional and domestic flights and is much closer to Amman’s north-east suburbs. Travel time from Marka to Azraq is also around 1.5-2 hours by car; taxis or private transfers are the practical options. Public scheduled airport buses do not serve Azraq directly, so plan a taxi or pre-booked transfer.
Train: Jordan currently has no regular passenger intercity train service linking Amman and Azraq; rail is freight-only. Do not rely on trains for this route.
Bus: The practical public option is to get from Amman to Zarqa by intercity bus or service bus, then take a local shared taxi/minibus on to Azraq. From Amman to Zarqa expect 20-40 minutes depending on traffic; from Zarqa to Azraq the shared taxi/minibus leg is typically 30-50 minutes. Shared-taxi/minibus fares on these local legs are low (small single-digit Jordanian dinar amounts) but fluctuate; if you need a guaranteed schedule or door-to-door service, book a private transfer.
