How to Get to Adjumani

Adjumani is served locally by a small airstrip for charters and humanitarian flights; scheduled international arrivals go via Entebbe (EBB) followed by a long overland journey. Overland coaches and minibuses are the practical public options for reaching the town from central Uganda.

By Air

Adjumani Airstrip (no IATA): Adjumani has a small local airstrip used primarily by charter flights, NGOs and occasional domestic operators. If you arrive by charter, transfers from the strip into town are short (minutes) and done by taxi or boda-boda; fares are minimal - typically a few thousand Ugandan shillings.

Entebbe International Airport (EBB): For scheduled international flights the usual arrival point is Entebbe (EBB). From Entebbe/Kampala you must continue overland: long-distance coaches or private cars travel north via Gulu toward Adjumani. Overland travel from Kampala/Entebbe to Adjumani is a full-day trip (commonly 8-12+ hours depending on stops and road conditions).

By Train & Bus

Train: There is no regular passenger rail service to Adjumani.

Bus / Coach: The main option for most travelers arriving via Entebbe or Kampala is long-distance coach service or private hire to Gulu and onward minibuses to Adjumani. Buses are the economical option but journeys are long; prices vary by operator and route - expect several tens of thousands of UGX for long-distance legs and plan for an overnight or full-day trip.

For travel within the district and to other towns, shared minibuses, taxis and motorcycle taxis (boda-bodas) are common.
