How to Get to Koboko
Koboko is best reached by flying to Arua or overland from larger Ugandan hubs; Entebbe International Airport (EBB) is the international gateway and Arua Airport (RUA) is the nearest domestic airport. From Arua, road transfer by taxi or minibus completes the journey.
Entebbe International Airport (EBB): Entebbe is Uganda’s main international airport; to reach Koboko you’ll usually connect by domestic flight to Arua or travel overland. Flights from Entebbe to Arua take about 1 hour; from Arua the road journey to Koboko is roughly 45-75 minutes.
Arua Airport (RUA): Arua is the closest domestic airport to Koboko with regular regional services from Entebbe and other hubs. Road transfer from Arua to Koboko is around 45-75 minutes by taxi or hired vehicle; expect drivers to charge roughly UGX 20,000-60,000 depending on vehicle and negotiation.
Train: There is no passenger rail service to Koboko; Uganda’s rail network does not serve this route.
Bus / Matatu / Shared taxi: Overland travel from Arua or other towns is by minibuses (matatus) or shared taxis. From Arua the drive to Koboko takes under two hours; minibuses are cheaper but slower and less comfortable for long distances.
How to Get Around Koboko #
Koboko is compact and many destinations in town can be reached on foot. Motorcycle taxis (boda‑bodas) are the most common quick option; shared taxis and minibuses connect to Arua and other regional centres. Road travel around the border area is possible but plan extra time for checkpoints and limited schedules on public services.
