How to Get to Zagora, Morocco

Zagora is mainly reached by road from larger Moroccan hubs; the small Zagora Airport handles occasional domestic/charter flights while most international visitors fly into Marrakech Menara (RAK) or Ouarzazate (OZZ) and continue by bus or private transfer.

By Air

Zagora Airport (OZG): Small regional airport with limited domestic flights (seasonal/charter). Taxis from the airfield to Zagora town centre take about 5-10 minutes and cost roughly 20-40 MAD.

Marrakech Menara (RAK): Marrakech is the main international gateway used by most visitors. From Marrakech you can take an intercity bus (Supratours / CTM) or a private transfer to Zagora; expect 7-10 hours on the road. Bus fares are typically in the range 100-200 MAD; private transfers are considerably more expensive and faster depending on route and stops.

By Train & Bus

Train: There is no railway service to Zagora - Morocco’s main rail network stops many hours north (Marrakech, Agadir has no direct rail either). The nearest rail access points for long-distance trains are Marrakech and other larger northern/southern hubs.

Bus: Intercity carriers (Supratours, CTM and regional operators) run scheduled services to Zagora from Marrakech, Ouarzazate and Agdz. Travel times are long (typically 7-10 hours from Marrakech) and fares usually range 100-200 MAD depending on operator and class.

How to Get Around Zagora, Morocco #

Zagora is a compact town and quite walkable - most sights, cafés and the medina are a short stroll apart. For longer trips you’ll use petit taxis for short hops and shared (grand) taxis or buses to reach other towns and desert-tour departure points. Many hotels and tour operators organise transfers and camel/4x4 treks into the Sahara; bargain for fixed fares in advance.
