How to Get to Yung Shue Wan
Yung Shue Wan is on Lamma Island and is reached from Hong Kong Island by ferry; the obvious gateway is Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) via the Airport Express or by road to Central/Aberdeen then a ferry. Major rail/bus connections deliver you to the Central or Aberdeen ferry piers, where regular boat services cross to Yung Shue Wan.
Hong Kong International Airport (HKG):
Take the Airport Express to Hong Kong Station (Central). Adult single tickets on the Airport Express are HK$115 and the ride takes about 24 minutes; from Hong Kong Station it’s a 5-10 minute walk to the Central Ferry Piers. A taxi from the airport to Central costs roughly HK$300-420 and takes 25-40 minutes depending on traffic.
Chek Lap Kok (helicopter / private flights):
Private/charter arrivals and helicopter transfers operate to the Hong Kong area but are uncommon for regular visitors; any onward travel to Lamma Island still requires transferring to Central or Aberdeen and then taking a ferry to Yung Shue Wan.
Train (MTR):
Use the MTR to reach Central/Hong Kong Station. The MTR connects most parts of Hong Kong to Central; single-journey fares vary by distance (typical short trips HK$4-HK$20). From Hong Kong Station it’s a short walk to the Central Ferry Piers for services to Lamma Island.
Bus / Road:
City buses and minibuses serve Central and Aberdeen - fares typically range HK$4-HK$20 depending on route and distance. There are no regular road vehicle services onto Lamma Island (it is largely car-free); buses get you to the ferry piers where you switch to a ferry to reach Yung Shue Wan.
How to Get Around Yung Shue Wan #
Yung Shue Wan (Lamma Island) is very walkable; there are almost no cars in the main village, so expect to get around on foot. Regular ferries link Yung Shue Wan with Central and Aberdeen-journeys take roughly 20-30 minutes depending on the route and operator, and run frequently during the day. Within the island you can walk to beaches and trails or use local taxis/mini‑buses for steeper paths. Bring comfortable shoes if you plan to hike between villages.
