How to Get to Mid-Levels
Mid-Levels (Central) sits above Central/Admiralty and is best accessed from Hong Kong Station (Airport Express) or the MTR network. The Central-Mid-Levels Escalator and frequent minibuses/taxis are the most practical ways to reach hill-side streets.
Hong Kong International Airport (HKG): HKG is the main airport. The Airport Express runs from HKG to Hong Kong Station in about 24 minutes (Airport Express); taxis to Central take around 30-40 minutes depending on traffic.
(Other entry points): You can also arrive by ferry from Macau or Shenzhen, or by land via the high-speed rail network into West Kowloon or Hung Hom and continue by MTR/taxi to Mid-Levels.
Train: The Airport Express connects HKG to Hong Kong Station (Central) with a travel time of roughly 24 minutes; standard adult fares are available at the Airport Express counters. From Hong Kong Station it’s a short taxi or walk to the Mid-Levels escalator and streets.
Bus / Minibus: Numerous public buses and green/red minibuses serve Central and the surrounding Mid-Levels area; routes to Admiralty and Central are frequent and link with MTR stations for onward travel.
How to Get Around Mid-Levels #
Mid-Levels is hilly but relatively compact; many short trips are walkable if you don’t mind steep streets. The Mid-Levels Escalator runs downhill into Central and is useful for avoiding long climbs. Buses, minibuses and taxis are plentiful. The Peak Tram provides access up to Victoria Peak for sightseeing. Use an Octopus card on most public transport and prefer taxis for late-night rides if needed.
