Wat Rong Suea Ten is a contemporary Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai province in northern Thailand, commonly known as the “Blue Temple.” Construction of the current complex was carried out in the 2000s and the main structures were completed in the 2010s.
The complex is notable for its intense ultramarine and blue color scheme on facades, ornamental mirrored mosaics, and elaborate sculptural details. The approach is marked by sweeping Naga balustrades and carved guardian figures; the main ordination hall contains a large seated Buddha image and richly decorated interior murals.
The present temple complex was created in the early 21st century by a local artist-led team as a new place of worship and community art project, following traditional Thai Buddhist architectural forms executed in contemporary materials. Over the 2000s and 2010s the site was expanded and decorated to become a major local landmark.
The temple sits within Chiang Rai city in northern Thailand, in Chiang Rai province. It is located in the urban area of Chiang Rai and is accessible by road from the city center.

From Chiang Rai town centre the temple is an easy 10-15 minute drive. Local songthaews and tuk-tuks run the short route; taxis and rental scooters are common options. It’s also near other Chiang Rai attractions, often visited on the same loop as the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) and the Black House (Baan Dam Museum).
