How to Get to Vieste
Vieste sits on the Gargano promontory in Puglia and does not have a rail station; travellers normally arrive via Bari or Foggia and complete the journey by bus or car. The bus link from Foggia is the common public-transport route to the town.
Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport (BRI): Bari (BRI) is the main international airport for the Gargano and Vieste area. Driving from Bari to Vieste takes about 2-2.5 hours (approx. 160 km) by car; car hire or private transfer costs typically start around €80-€140 depending on vehicle.
Foggia Gino Lisa Airport (FOG) / Foggia railhead: Foggia is the nearer regional hub by road/rail for Vieste; from Foggia city the bus or coach connection to Vieste is the common link (see bus paragraph).
Train: Vieste has no railway station. The nearest mainline stations are Foggia and San Severo; from those stations you continue by bus.
Bus / Coach: Buses (regional operators such as Foggia-based companies or Ferrovie del Gargano services) run from Foggia to Vieste; the coach journey takes about 1-1.5 hours from Foggia and fares typically range €4-€8. Buses are the practical public option to reach Vieste from the nearest railheads.
How to Get Around Vieste #
Vieste’s old town and seafront are easily explored on foot; many attractions, beaches and restaurants sit within short walking distance. In summer there are seasonal ferries to the Tremiti Islands and boat tours along the Gargano coast; buses and taxis serve regional connections.
