How to Get to Monopoli
Monopoli sits on Italy's Adriatic coast and is well connected by regional rail. Bari Karol Wojtyła (BRI) and Brindisi (BDS) are the two nearest airports, with regular Trenitalia regional trains linking Monopoli to Bari and Brindisi.
Karol Wojtyła/Bari Airport (BRI): Bari is the closest major airport to Monopoli (about 45-60 km by road). From Bari airport you can take the direct airport shuttle or local bus to Bari Centrale, then a regional train to Monopoli - the shuttle/bus to Bari Centrale takes about 20-30 minutes (shuttle fares commonly range around €5-€7), and trains from Bari Centrale to Monopoli take roughly 20-30 minutes.
Brindisi - Salento Airport (BDS): Brindisi airport is further southeast (about 50-60 km) and also an entry point for the area. From BDS you can catch a train from Brindisi Centrale to Monopoli (via the Adriatic line) - travel time is typically 40-60 minutes including a short transfer at Brindisi station.
Train: Monopoli is on the Bari-Brindisi coastal line served by Trenitalia regional trains; the station is simply called Monopoli. Trains to Bari or Brindisi run frequently; Bari-Monopoli is about 20-30 minutes, regional fares are low (commonly a few euros).
Bus: Local and regional buses serve Monopoli and smaller nearby towns. Bus services can fill gaps not covered by trains but check timetables as frequencies vary; taxis are a convenient alternative for short hops or off-hour travel.
