Banks & Torres (Northern Vanuatu)
July continues the dry, trade-wind pattern and is one of the most stable months for travel in the Banks and Torres: cool nights, sunny days and calm seas. It’s an excellent time to explore traditional villages, climb small volcanic cones, and visit Gaua’s crater lake with minimal rain interruptions. Accommodation choices are limited but reliable; bring reef shoes for uneven coral beaches exposed at low tide.
Espiritu Santo & Malakula (Large central islands)
July stays in the cooler, trade-wind season and is a popular time for international visitors who want calm seas for island cruises and clear-water diving. Champagne Beach and Blue Holes on Santo are at their best with calm water and excellent visibility, and village homestays are comfortable at night. Book ahead for diving charters and guided cultural experiences, but expect fewer crowds than more accessible Pacific destinations.
Efate & Shefa (Port Vila and surrounding islands)
July remains firmly in the dry season with crisp mornings and predictable southeast winds: excellent for sailing and multi-island cruising out of Port Vila. This is peak season for travellers wanting reliable sea conditions; facilities in Efate operate fully and guided hikes to lookout points are easy to schedule. Visitor numbers remain moderate compared with larger Pacific destinations, but book accommodation early for weekends.
Taféa (Tanna, Aneityum and the southern islands)
July keeps its dry, trade-wind character and is one of the best months for traveling in Taféa: clear skies, comfortable humidity and reliable boat connections to smaller islets. This is also when many cultural visits and guided hikes work best because trails are dry and safe. Bring sunscreen and a windproof jacket for sea breezes; book crater visits to Yasur in advance to secure the best viewing times.
