The Tomb of Minh Mang is the imperial mausoleum of Emperor Minh Mang (reigned 1820-1841) located near Hue in central Vietnam. The ensemble was built in the 1840s and is one of the principal Nguyen dynasty burial sites.
The site comprises a planned sequence of terraces, courtyards, pavilions, temples and a main tomb area arranged along a central axis, following Chinese-influenced geomantic and Confucian principles. Visitors typically see ceremonial gates, the imperial worship halls and landscaped water features within the walled complex.
Construction of the complex began under Minh Mang and continued through the 1840s using imperial labour and craftsmen; it was intended as the emperor’s funerary and ritual landscape and has been maintained as one of the major imperial tombs of the Nguyen period. The compound has undergone repairs and conservation work in the 20th and 21st centuries to preserve its buildings and decorative work.
Geographically the tomb sits on the left bank of the Perfume River, approximately 12 km south of central Hue, within a quiet riverside landscape of small hills and gardens.
