Therasia Island

Therasia is a small island in the Cyclades, part of the Santorini (Thera) archipelago and located within the volcanic caldera. The island is less developed and more sparsely populated than neighboring Santorini, retaining traditional settlements and rural character.

Visitors to Therasia typically reach it by local boat from Santorini; it offers views across the caldera and a quieter alternative to Santorini’s main tourist towns. The island’s villages and walking paths provide access to local churches and cliffside vistas.

Therasia shares the volcanic history of the Santorini complex and forms part of the caldera’s inner ring of islands. Activity on the island is primarily local and seasonal tourism.

The island lies immediately north-west of central Santorini and is reached by boat services from ports on Santorini, placing it within the wider Santorini tourist area but with noticeably fewer visitors.
