How to Get to Terre Rouge

Terre Rouge (Pamplemousses District) is on Mauritius's northwestern side and is reached by road from Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) or Port Louis. Public buses and taxis cover the island; car hire speeds up travel between dispersed sites.

By Air

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU): The main international airport for Mauritius, located at Plaine Magnien. From MRU you can drive or take a taxi to Terre Rouge/ Pamplemousses District - the transfer to the northwestern parts of the island typically takes 45-75 minutes depending on traffic; taxis and shuttle services operate from the airport.

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam (alternate access): For domestic connections around the island there are no scheduled internal commercial flights; road transport is the standard way to reach Terre Rouge from the airport or Port Louis.

By Train & Bus

Train: Mauritius does not have a passenger rail network in operation - rail is not an option for travel to Terre Rouge.

Bus: The island has an extensive bus network; public buses connect Port Louis, Grand Baie and other settlements with Pamplemousses District. Buses are very affordable and drop you near local stops in Terre Rouge.
