How to Get to Moka#
Moka is a central district easily accessed by road from MRU and other towns. It’s well connected by the island’s CTB bus network and reachable quickly by taxi or car hire.
Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU): Moka is within easy driving distance of MRU and is typically reached by road. The airport-to-Moka drive takes roughly 30-50 minutes depending on traffic; taxi fares are commonly 800-1,500 MUR.
(No domestic flights): MRU is the sole international airport for Mauritius; there are no internal commercial flights to Moka.
Train: There is no passenger rail service in Mauritius.
Bus: CTB buses and private shuttles serve Moka with frequent links to Port Louis and the west coast. Buses are inexpensive (around 20-70 MUR) and can be a convenient way to reach central Moka and surrounding commercial areas.

- CTB public bus (≈20-70 MUR (single fare)) - CTB buses link Moka to Port Louis, Quatre Bornes and other central hubs. Buses are regular and cheap, though they may make many stops.
- Car hire (≈1,500-3,500 MUR/day) - Car hire is common and convenient for exploring central Mauritius from Moka; roads are well maintained on main routes and parking is available at major centres.
- Taxi / Ride apps (Short rides ≈200-700 MUR) - Taxis and private ride services operate around Moka for short business or shopping trips. These are useful when carrying luggage or travelling outside bus hours.
