How to Get to Għaxaq
Għaxaq is a short ride from Valletta and Malta's airport; the island is best navigated by the national bus network or taxi. For short local trips, the public buses are cost-effective and frequent enough for day visitors.
Malta International Airport (MLA): The island’s single airport serves Valletta and surrounding towns. From MLA you can take a taxi to Għaxaq (≈20-30 minutes, about €20-€25) or use the public bus network: several routes connect the airport with Valletta in ~20-25 minutes (single-ride fare below).
Train: Malta has no train network.
Bus: Malta’s Tallinja bus network connects the airport, Valletta and towns across the island. Standard single fares are around €2.00 (cash) for a point-to-point journey; travel time from Valletta to Għaxaq is about 15-25 minutes depending on route and traffic. Use the Tallinja app or a Tallinja card for cheaper day passes if you plan multiple journeys.
