How to Get to Sutomore

Sutomore is a coastal town on Montenegro's Adriatic shore with rail access on the Belgrade-Bar line and good seasonal bus connections. The nearest airports are Podgorica (TGD) and Tivat (TIV); from either you typically continue by bus, train or taxi to Sutomore.

By Air

Podgorica Airport (TGD): Podgorica is the nearest major airport (about 45-60 minutes drive). From the airport you can take a taxi to Sutomore (~€30-€50, 45-60 minutes) or a combination of bus and train via Bar; direct public transfers are limited outside the summer season.

Tivat Airport (TIV): Tivat is closer for many coastal destinations but still requires a transfer; from Tivat to Sutomore expect roughly 60-90 minutes by road. Taxis cost approximately €40-€70; in summer there are private airport shuttles and bus services connecting to Bar and Sutomore.

By Train & Bus

Train: Montenegro’s coastal railway runs through Sutomore and Bar; Sutomore station is on the Belgrade-Bar line and provides direct regional trains to Bar and seasonal services along the coast. Travel times are short from Bar (a few minutes) and longer from Podgorica (around 1-1.5 hours).

Bus: Regional buses and intercity coaches serve Sutomore from Bar, Budva and Podgorica. Buses are frequent in summer; fares are modest (a few euros) and journey times vary: Bar-Sutomore ~10-20 minutes, Podgorica-Sutomore ~1-1.5 hours.

How to Get Around Sutomore #

Sutomore is a walkable coastal resort where the beach, cafes and many guesthouses are close together. Walking along the promenade is the easiest way to get around in high season. For trips further afield use regional buses, taxis, or drive to Bar and other coastal towns. Transport is busiest in summer, so expect more frequent services and higher prices during peak season.
