Kotor Cathedral, formally the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon, is the Roman Catholic cathedral at the heart of Kotor’s Old Town and was consecrated in 1166. It is one of the principal medieval monuments in the Bay of Kotor.

The building displays Romanesque and later architectural features and contains a diocesan treasury with liturgical objects and relics, including items associated with Saint Tryphon. The cathedral has been repaired and altered repeatedly after earthquake damage over the centuries.

The cathedral stands inside Kotor’s walled historic centre on the Bay of Kotor and is a common stop on guided walking routes of the Old Town.

Kotor Cathedral (Cathedral of Saint Tryphon) is in Kotor’s UNESCO medieval Old Town. From the main bus station or the Old Town Sea Gate, it’s an easy 5-10 minute walk along the stone streets to the cathedral square. Kotor is well served by regional buses from nearby coastal towns (Budva, Tivat) and by car; Tivat Airport is about 8 km away (roughly a 15-20 minute drive) and Dubrovnik is approximately 90 km by road (about 1.5-2 hours depending on border crossings and traffic).

• Visit Kotor Cathedral early in the morning, before cruise‑ship shore excursions arrive, to enjoy the Old Town square and interior without the crowds.
• Enter from the cathedral square in Kotor's Old Town and allow time to see the treasury and Romanesque features inside; check opening times on arrival as hours can be limited or altered for services.
