Basseterre & Southeast Coast (Frigate Bay, Basseterre, Cockleshell Bay)

This is the driest stretch for Basseterre and the southeast coast; days are sunny, breezy and excellent for beaches and the Brimstone Hill Fortress tour before it gets hot. Early-morning walks along the boardwalk are comfortable and the sea is inviting for boat trips and snorkeling. Expect places to be busy with international travelers; book tours and restaurants in advance and carry a hat - midday sun is strong.

Northwest & Leeward Coast (Sandy Point, Romney Manor, Brimstone Hill approaches)

Late winter settles in with very little rain and steady northeast trades; Romney Manor’s tropical gardens are dry and fragrant - an excellent time for walking tours and birdwatching. Visibility for shoreline snorkeling is good on most days and beaches along the leeward side stay accessible. Bring a light wind layer for after-sunset drinks overlooking the sea.

Mount Liamuiga & Central Highlands (Rainforest, hiking trails)

The end of the dry season brings crisp air and improved summit visibility; cloud cover is less persistent and the rainforest smells fresh after occasional trade-wind rains. Trails up to the crater are in their best condition for long hikes, and guides run regular climbs from Sandy Point and Basseterre. Bring layered clothing - mornings and summit winds can be cool even if the coast is hot.

Nevis (Charlestown, Pinney’s Beach, Nevis Peak, Bath Village)

Clear skies continue and the island is very comfortable for outdoor activities; Nevis Peak offers cooler hiking conditions in the early hours when the summit visibility is at its best. Ocean water is warm and calm - excellent for boat tours to offshore reefs - and the island’s small size makes it easy to escape any crowds. Carry sun protection and a reusable water bottle for daytime walks.
