Small Prespa Lake is one of the two Prespa lakes in the Prespa basin of the southern Balkans and forms part of a transboundary freshwater system shared by neighbouring countries. It is a shallow lake important for wetland habitats and biodiversity in the region.

The lake and its surrounding wetlands are known for their rich birdlife and are included in regional conservation frameworks and protected-area arrangements that span national boundaries. The area is used for fishing, seasonal agriculture around its shores, and nature observation.

The Prespa basin has a long human history of settlement and land use, with changing administrative arrangements through the modern era, and international cooperation on conservation has increased in recent decades. The lake sits near the borders of Albania, Greece and North Macedonia within the Prespa region.
