About Sebesi

Sebesi is a small inhabited island in Lampung province, Indonesia, located in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Sumatra and Java. It lies north of the Krakatoa volcanic complex and is administratively part of Lampung.

The island has settlements and agricultural areas and offers coastal views toward Anak Krakatau and the Sunda Strait shipping lanes. Visitors arriving by boat can see volcanic islands on the horizon and experience a small-island coastal environment.

Sebesi has been occupied for generations and lies in the volcanic Sunda Strait region, which has been shaped by historic eruptions in the area. The island’s population and land use have been oriented around subsistence farming, fishing and small-scale services.

Located in the Sunda Strait north of Krakatoa and between Sumatra and Java, the island is reached by boat from the southern Sumatran coast and is part of Lampung province.
