How to Get to Punaʻauia
Puna'auia is on the west coast of Tahiti near Papeete and Faa'a Airport (PPT). Most visitors fly into PPT and continue by taxi or public bus into Puna'auia; buses are cheap while taxis are faster and more convenient with luggage.

From the airport to central Puna’auia or Papeete it’s typically 10-20 minutes by taxi; expect taxi fares around 1,500-3,000 XPF depending on destination and time.
Domestic connections: Inter-island flights to Tahiti arrive at PPT; if you land on another island you’ll connect to PPT by domestic flight before taking local transport to Puna’auia.
Train: There is no rail service on Tahiti.
Bus: Tahiti has a public bus network (run by RTA / réseau) serving Papeete and suburbs including Puna’auia. Bus routes and schedules cover the main coastal roads; fares are low (typical single fares around 150 XPF) and buses are a cost-effective way to reach local beaches and Papeete from Puna’auia.
