How to Get to Pucón#
Pucón is a popular lake-and-volcano town reached by road from Temuco (La Araucanía Airport, ZCO) or by long-distance bus from Santiago. There is no regular passenger rail service; buses and private car/transfers are the usual choices.
La Araucanía International Airport (ZCO) / Temuco: Temuco’s airport is the main air gateway for Pucón. From ZCO to Pucón the drive is about 1.5-2 hours (roughly 100-110 km) depending on route; private transfers, taxis and rental cars are common. Typical transfer time is ~1.5 hours by car.
Arturo Merino Benítez / Santiago (SCL): Many visitors fly into Santiago and then take an internal flight to Temuco (ZCO) or an overnight bus to Pucón. Bus Santiago-Pucón is long (~10-12 hours) while flights to Temuco plus a road transfer are faster.
Train: There is no direct long-distance passenger rail service to Pucón; road transport is the normal option.
Bus: Numerous intercity bus companies run Santiago-Pucón or Temuco-Pucón routes. From Temuco the bus takes about 1.5-2 hours; from Santiago expect ~10-12 hours by coach. Book bus tickets in advance during high season (ski/summer).
