How to Get to Nueva Imperial
Nueva Imperial is best reached by road from Temuco (La Araucanía International Airport, ZCO) or by bus from larger Chilean cities. There is no direct passenger rail service; most visitors arrive by air to Temuco or by long-distance bus to the Temuco bus terminal and continue by local bus or car.
La Araucanía International Airport (ZCO): From Temuco’s airport you can reach Nueva Imperial by rental car or taxi (drive ~40-60 minutes). A private taxi or transfer typically takes about 45-60 minutes; expect roughly CLP ~25,000-40,000 for a direct taxi transfer (prices vary). Rental cars are available at the airport and the drive is ~45 minutes via Ruta 5 and local roads.
Arturo Merino Benítez / Santiago (SCL): If arriving at Santiago, most travelers take an intercity bus or domestic flight to Temuco (ZCO) then continue by road. Flights SCL-ZCO are ~1h20; bus SCL-Temuco is ~8-10 hours. From Temuco you then use the options above to reach Nueva Imperial.
Train: Chile’s long-distance passenger rail is very limited in Araucanía; there is no reliable regular passenger train serving Nueva Imperial. Omit rail for this route and use buses or private car.
Bus: Intercity buses from Temuco’s bus terminal (Terminal de Buses Temuco) run to Nueva Imperial. Journey time Temuco-Nueva Imperial is roughly 40-60 minutes. Regional bus/minibus fares are modest (typically a few thousand CLP); check the Temuco terminal for current schedules and carriers.
