Pratunam sits just north of Siam and is defined by the Pratunam intersection and the Baiyoke Tower complex. The area’s backbone is wholesale clothing: big malls, narrow alleys of tailors and daytime market stalls selling cheap fashion in bulk.

By day it’s noisy, humid and packed with shoppers and delivery vans; by night many of the stalls close and the district becomes markedly calmer, with a handful of late-night street-food vendors and hotel rooftop bars. Major roads to know are Phetchaburi and Ratchaprarop, and the skyline is dominated by Baiyoke Tower.
