About Peleng

Peleng is an island in Central Sulawesi province, Indonesia, located in the Banggai Archipelago off Sulawesi’s eastern coast. It is one of the larger islands in the Banggai group and is part of the Banggai Regency.

The island has a mix of coastal settlements and inland terrain and is connected administratively to Central Sulawesi. Marine and coastal activities are important to local livelihoods, with fishing and small-scale agriculture common.

Peleng is accessed by boat from Luwuk (the main town in Banggai Regency), which has scheduled ferries and private charters; travel time varies with boat type and sea conditions. Luwuk is reachable by flights from Palu and Makassar; from Luwuk hire a boat to Peleng-expect several hours depending on stops.
