Östermalm occupies a handsome stretch of central Stockholm: think wide, tree-lined streets, turn-of-the-century apartment blocks and the long waterfront avenue Strandvägen. Landmarks include Östermalms Saluhall food hall, the museum quarter around Humlegården and Stureplan’s glitzy square.

By day the area feels calm and polished, locals café-hop, shop designer boutiques and browse specialist food stalls. After dark it becomes more metropolitan: elegant restaurants fill up and Stureplan’s clubs and bars draw a well-dressed crowd, though side streets stay quiet.
