Best Time to Visit Mulanje #

Mulanje is best visited in the cool, dry months for reliable hiking and clear views of the massif. Avoid the wet season when trails become slippery and lowland access can be difficult.

Rainy Season
November - April · 18°C - 28°C (64°F - 82°F)
Intense afternoon storms; trails muddy and many forest tracks become slippery - jungle looks lush but climbing the massif is harder and guides may cancel.
Cool Dry Season
May - August · 8°C - 22°C (46°F - 72°F)
Crisp mornings, clear days and excellent visibility; prime season for hiking Mulanje's peaks and waterfalls without rain interruptions, so pack warm layers for chilly nights and early starts.
Hot Dry Season
September - October · 20°C - 30°C (68°F - 86°F)
