Mu Ko Lanta National Park is a marine and island national park off the Andaman coast of southern Thailand, covering several islands and adjacent sea areas. The park protects beaches, coral reefs, mangroves and coastal forest across islands including Koh Lanta Yai and Koh Lanta Noi.

Sandy beaches, snorkelling and diving on nearby reefs, simple coastal trails and boat trips between islands. The park is commonly accessed from Krabi province and the main island settlements provide the usual visitor services.

The park was created to conserve both marine and terrestrial coastal environments and to regulate tourism and resource use across the island group. Management focuses on reef protection, mangrove conservation and visitor regulation.

Geographically the park lies off the west coast of southern Thailand in the Andaman Sea, with Koh Lanta Yai the main inhabited island and gateway for visitors.

  • Best time to visit: Best visited in the dry season, typically between November and April, when sea conditions are calmer and snorkeling visibility is at its best.
  • Habitats protected: The park protects both terrestrial and marine habitats - including beaches, coral reefs and mangrove forests - making it a multi-habitat conservation area.

  • Koh Lanta Noi: Koh Lanta Noi - the smaller island to the north of Koh Lanta Yai which is less developed and contains mangrove and rural landscapes that form part of the park's protected area.
