The usual gateway is Kawthaung (the southern mainland port); visitors arrange charter boats, dive liveaboards or local boat transfers from Kawthaung to reach islands in the archipelago. Domestic flights to Kawthaung from Yangon are the common way to reach the embarkation point.

Tips for Visiting Moscos Islands #

  • Visit during Myanmar's dry season (roughly November-April) when sea conditions are calmer and most liveaboard and day-trip operators run regular departures.
  • Foreign visitors must travel to the Mergui/Moscos archipelago with licensed tour operators and local permits-book a reputable liveaboard or dive operator out of Kawthaung or Myeik in advance.
  • Plan for minimal facilities on many islands: expect basic accommodation and limited supplies, bring necessary medications and cash, and choose early-morning boat or dive departures to avoid afternoon chop.
