How to Get to Lefkada (city)
Lefkada town is most conveniently reached via Preveza-Aktion Airport (PVK) with onward bus, shuttle or taxi transfer. There is no direct train access; regional KTEL buses and car hire are the usual ways to get around the island.
Preveza-Aktion Airport (PVK): The nearest airport for Lefkada. PVK (often called Aktion) is about 20-30 km from Lefkada town; from the airport you can take a taxi (~€30-€50, 30-50 minutes) or a seasonal airport transfer/shuttle to Lefkada. Car hire is available at the terminal.
Kefalonia (EFL) / Aktion alternatives: In high season ferries and additional charter flights mean travellers sometimes arrive at nearby islands (Kefalonia) or use Aktion via Preveza. Transfers vary by operator and season.
Train: Greece’s national rail network does not directly serve Lefkada. The nearest major rail hub is Preveza/Amfilochia area via trains to Agrinio/Arta and bus connections; rail + bus combos are possible but involve multiple transfers.
Bus: KTEL (regional coach operator) runs regular buses from Preveza, Lefkada town and other Ionian destinations. Buses link Lefkada to Preveza, Preveza-Aktion Airport shuttles, and to larger hubs such as Ioannina and Patras; journey times and frequencies are seasonal, with more services in summer.
