How to Get to Laventille
Laventille sits just east of central Port of Spain and is reached most easily via Piarco International Airport (POS). There is no rail service; local transit uses buses, maxi-taxis and private taxis.
Piarco International Airport (POS): Piarco is the main international gateway for Port of Spain and the surrounding area. From Piarco you can take a metered taxi or prebooked transfer to Port of Spain and Laventille; the drive to central Port of Spain typically takes 30-45 minutes depending on traffic.
A.N.R. Robinson International / Crown Point, Tobago (TAB): If arriving in Tobago you can fly into Crown Point and then travel to Port of Spain by domestic flight or ferry; the ferry route (Scarborough-Port of Spain) requires a further transfer from Port of Spain to Laventille by taxi or maxi-taxi.
Train: Trinidad does not have an operational passenger rail network for urban travel.
Bus / Maxi-taxi: Public transport around Port of Spain and Laventille relies on buses and shared minibuses (maxi-taxis). Maxi-taxi and city bus fares depend on distance; short inner-city trips are inexpensive and frequent, while routes from suburbs or airports cost more. Taxis (metered) are widely available; from Piarco to Port of Spain expect a private taxi to cost in the order of a few hundred TT dollars depending on vehicle type and luggage.
