How to Get to Kehancha
Kehancha is best reached overland by bus or matatu from Migori or Kisii; the nearest airports are Kisumu and Nairobi for international/domestic flights. Road transport is the primary means to access and move around the town.
Migori (no major airport): Kehancha does not have a commercial airport. The nearest airports with scheduled services are Kisumu International Airport (KIS) and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi; visitors usually fly into Kisumu or Nairobi and continue by road.
Kisumu International Airport (KIS): From Kisumu, overland coach or shared shuttle services connect to towns in southwestern Kenya; onward road travel to Kehancha requires a bus or matatu via Migori or local transfer.
Train: There is no passenger rail service directly serving Kehancha. Rail in Kenya does not extend to this town.
Bus / Matatu: The main connection to Kehancha is by road: intercounty buses and matatus run between Migori, Kisii, Kisumu and Kehancha. Travel times vary by origin and road conditions; expect several hours from major regional hubs.
How to Get Around Kehancha #
Kehancha is a small market town where most short journeys are done on foot within the centre. For travel to neighbouring towns use matatus/shared minibuses and motorcycle taxis (boda-boda). Fares are modest but variable - agree costs before you set off and carry small denominations of Kenyan shillings.
