How to Get to Kavarna#
Kavarna on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast is best accessed via Varna Airport and then a direct intercity bus. The town has good coach connections to Varna and Dobrich but no direct mainline rail service.
Varna Airport (VAR): Varna is the closest international airport (about 40-50 km south). From Varna Airport take a bus or taxi to Varna city centre (15-25 minutes) then a direct intercity bus to Kavarna (journey ~55-75 minutes). Total travel time door-to-door is around 1.5-2 hours; bus fares Varna→Kavarna are typically in the region of 5-8 BGN.
Bucharest Otopeni (OTP) / Other options: For some international routes travellers may arrive via Bucharest and continue by train/bus northward, but Varna is the recommended gateway for Kavarna due to frequent domestic connections.
Train: There is no direct mainline rail service into Kavarna; the nearest railheads are in Varna and Dobrich. From Varna or Dobrich you continue by bus to Kavarna.
Bus: Intercity buses from Varna and Dobrich to Kavarna are frequent, with journey times around 1-1.5 hours from Varna and shorter from Dobrich. Tickets are inexpensive and sold at bus stations or directly to the driver.
