Junibacken is a children’s cultural centre and museum on Djurge5rden in Stockholm devoted largely to the works of Astrid Lindgren and other Swedish children’s authors. The venue presents staged sets, interactive installations and a signature Story Train ride through illustrated scenes.

Exhibits recreate interiors and characters from well-known books, with theatre performances and reading spaces for younger visitors. The museum is oriented to family visits and early childhood audiences rather than adult-focused collections.

Junibacken was established to celebrate and introduce Swedish children’s literature to new generations and combines museum displays with live storytelling and seasonal programming.

Located on Djurge5rden near other major cultural institutions in central Stockholm, Junibacken is reachable by tram, ferry and on foot from the city centre.

Junibacken is on Djurgården island in Stockholm among the city’s museum district. From central Stockholm take tram or bus services toward Djurgården or use the Djurgården ferry from Slussen/Strömkajen to Allmänna gränd - the museum is a short walk (a few minutes) from the ferry landing and tram/bus stops. It’s also within easy walking distance of other Djurgården attractions such as the Vasa Museum and the ABBA Museum.
